I know it's not very big as countries go, but how does one lose Wales from a map of Europe?

I can't find the story on the BBC site, but I've just heard in on the midnight news! A European Book of Statistics has excised Wales. There's just a line from Chester to the Severn and nothing to the West of it until one reaches Ireland!
I've just heard a bizarre story on the midnight news on Radio 4. Keepers at some Panda reserve were celebrating the birth of twins to a panda to whom they had shown videos of other pandas mating before she met various males. Their reason for this was that 'she'd be raised in captivity in the United States and therefore didn't have a full grasp of panda reproduction'!!!

Green Bins

Aug. 28th, 2004 06:47 pm
A few weeks ago, I finally got round to requesting a green bin from the council. I've been meaning to do it all year; at home, we've always had a compost bin and it's been strange at uni not having anywhere to put veg peelings etc. Anyway, it finally turned up this week (which I think must be the end of the 1-6 weeks I was told it would take). I noticed it Tuesday or Wednesday. Anyway, I took some stuff down to it last night.

Just now, I popped over to college to check my pige and when I opened the front door I saw immediately that the green bin had vanished. I puzzled about this as I went to college and back and when I got back I looked up and down the street to see any sign. I wondered whether it could have been taken round the back for any reason so stopped in the first floor kitchen and looked out. Indeed there was a green bin there which I didn't remember seeing before. So I decided to go and investigate.

To get to our back garden, I have to go out of the front of the house, turn left onto Huntingdon Road, left again into Richmond road, head down there a little way and then go down a track which gets to the back gardens of this house and next door. I duly did this, being asked whether I knew where Girton college was on my way. They looked pleased when I said that way (the way they were heading) but a lot less pleased when I said it was about a mile away!

I got round to the back garden, looked at the bin and thought, that looks pretty new, lifted the lid and saw the cardboard and cabbage leaves I'd put in there last night. So I dragged the bin back round to the front; I'm not sure who moved it, but, given that I ordered it, I'm not going to put up with having to walk three and two bits sides of a rectangle everytime I want to put stuff in! I then found my paints and went and painted the house number on it. Hopefully it won't walk again!
