It is also the Feast of the Transfiguration.
Make of that what you will.
Fr Andrew was linking the two (anniversary and feast) in his sermon. Unfortunately my mind wandered at the crucial moment. It was to do with suffering, and that Christ's glory came through suffering on the Cross.
