Actually given that today is the anniversary of Hiroshima and also that a plane crashed in the sea off Italy the plural form of the versicle seems relevant.

It is also the Feast of the Transfiguration.

Make of that what you will.

Fr Andrew was linking the two (anniversary and feast) in his sermon. Unfortunately my mind wandered at the crucial moment. It was to do with suffering, and that Christ's glory came through suffering on the Cross.

I think there's a lot to ponder in those two blinding lights, one of death and one of life. It seems somehow appropriate (if gruesomely so) that they share a day.
