Theft

I've been meaning to post this since it happened (and to do a proper update) but my wallet and mobile were stolen from my handbag while I went from the Hammersmith and City line to the WHSmiths on the concourse at King's Cross on Friday. I reported it to the police and they got me phone numbers to cancel cards and phone etc, but it's a lot of faff I could do without. Luckily, I'd only put my railcard wallet (with my tickets in) back in the handbag not in the wallet itself so I still had my ticket. I will get a new SIM from Tesco for the same number (my proper original one I'd just got back having changed from Orange!) and the credit, but not till I get back to Cardiff.

*hugs*

Do you have a spare phone to put the new SIM in?

No. At least I don't think so. I can't remember what happened to my old one which wasn't quite dead, just a bit temperamental. It might be in a box somewhere! My mum thought I might be covered by their insurance but was going to ask dad.

I ask because I have a spare phone kicking around at home (albeit one that has a habit of randomly phoning people if its buttons get pressed) and you are welcome to it if you would like it.

that's generally termed a 'design feature'

It depends *how* random. Phoning people you specify with the buttons might be random in a strict mathematical sense, but I get the impression it's more like

Phone: Press one to hear your messages.
Me: *1*
Phone: Hello? Why is one calling one on one's private line? One is only slightly amused!

OK.
My phone assigns keypad strokes to phone numbers automatically. This can be remedied...

Actually, it's more that the lock keypad function is rubbish, so that it is very easy for it to unlock itself and phone people while in one's pocket. This has lead to one or two embarassing situations...

That would indeed be useful. And given that we'll be in the same city this week end ....

I remember its odd habits.

Thank you. What time's the ceremony? Or more importantly the procession?

The Congregation is at 11am and we're to assemble in the Parlour at 10:15. I would guess that the procession will leave somewhere between 10:30 and 10:45.

Further to that, I've had another letter today which gives different times! They now say that the congregation is starting at 1315 and it looks like we're leaving Peterhouse somewhere around 1300.
