Friends' page strangeness
Mar. 16th, 2006 11:38 amWhy when I refreshed my friends' page this morning did it completely change its style? I don't like the new one. The icons are on the other side and the background colour is only just larger than the the userpic and the name rather than going down the side of the the whole entry which gives far clearer indication of who's posting without having to look deliberately.

Date: 2006-03-16 12:06 pm (UTC)BTW who are you and why have you friended me? Mostly I've been friended by people I've noticed posting on friends' journals, but I've never noticed you around.

Fair question!
I'm Stephen and I'm an Anglican.
I grew up in a Free Church, but when I came to Oxford I joined a studenty church, which happened to be Anglican but not very traditional (St Aldate's - but don't pigeon hole me because of that!). I got into liturgy when Common Worship came out and I was looking at what words to put into our projection system - I then started looking at the history of it all, and also picking people's brains about other aspects of church history. I like to understand all about liturgical stuff (including colours and forms of dress etc) even though my chuch doesn't really use them (hey, I can list about 20 bits of Canon Law which we break, but I'm probably the only person in the church bothered by this). I am the only Deanery Synod rep who regularly turns up to meetings and also represent Oxford deanery on Diocesan Synod. I'm very happy in StA's and love her despite the faults (of which I am very much aware), but I'm also very fond of the wider Anglican church.
I added you to my friends list because you made a comment about forms of creeds somewhere, and that was enough to mark you out!
The Welsh thing is an added bonus (I'm Welsh in the way lots of American's are Irish. Really I'm pretty darn English, but my grandmother was Welsh and my mother - Dilys - is learning Welsh at the moment)

[grins] because the others argue that your working for the gospel so Canon Law is irrelevant?

Interesting. I'm still mildly intrigued as we don't seem to have any f'list overlap, though I do with

Date: 2006-03-23 11:09 pm (UTC)*I can blame Petreans for a lot. It was a Petrean who first pointed me to the ship-of-fools through which I met another Petrean (lj user="angelofthenorth"> at a meet which caused me to come to a Cambridge meet and meet a couple more Petreans through whom I got involved in MethSoc. About 2/3 of my f'list can be traced back to that!
